SOUTH AFRICA'S MOST SUCCESSFUL EMERGING LIVESTOCK FARMER IS NO MORE! 04 Jan 2010
The National Emergent Red Meat Producers’ Organization (NERPO) has learnt with sadness and shock of the passing away of one of the Eastern Cape and South Africa’s most progressive emerging livestock farmer Mr. Tshabeni Klaas Mangwana.
Mr. Mangwana (76) died at his farm near Lady Grey on Saturday 02nd January 2010 after a short illness. He was undoubtedly been the pride of NERPO and the Eastern Cape Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. His dedication and ambition to farming changed the outlook of the land reform programme in the Eastern Cape.
Among many other farming accolades, the late has successfully used the opportunity of government’s land reform programme in the most profitable and productive manner, by acquiring a farm which he paid up within a space of six years, out of his own produce. The late has been a true example and flagship of the land reform programme particularly for the LRAD programme and has proved to be a successful farming entrepreneur out of a communal farming environment.
“We have received with shock and grief the news of passing away of our most successful livestock producer in the Eastern Cape province and the whole South Africa; Mr. T.K. Mangwana as was affectionally known to us. Once more death has robbed us an invaluable member who had served NERPO with distinction and dedication. He was a highly respected member of the organization, not only because he was one of the longest-serving member but also because of his produce on his farm. He was highly competitive and ambitious livestock farmer who was always hungry to learn and become even a better red meat producer. On behalf of NERPO Group, I wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and South Africa’s farming community at large” mourned Mahanjana.
In honour of this great achiever, NERPO and the family of the late have decided to hold a memorial service at which the MEC and Superintendent General of the Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Mr. Mbulelo Sogoni and Advocate Amon Nyondo (respectively), as well as the Honourable Minister for Rural Development and Land Reform Mr. Gugile Nkwinti are expected to attend.
Members of NERPO and the entire farming community are equally invited to attend and pay homage to the family of the late Mangwana.
